Ramadan is the blessed month where not only He, The Creator, listens to
all the asked and unasked prayers, and where every Muslim exerts for His
nearness. Quran is the literal speech of Almighty God to his Prophet
(PBUH) for the followers and believers of all the times and this was
sent during this Holy month of Ramadan as Quran says:
"Ramadan is the (month) in which the Qur'an was sent down, as a guide to
mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and
wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that
month should spend it in fasting."
Muslims are encouraged to recite, read, understand and follow each verse
of Quran regularly, but the above Ayah depicts the intimate relationship
of Quran recitation with the month of Ramadan. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)
used to recite Quran to Jibrael for once at least in every Ramadan, and
Muslims emulate this practice by reciting the Quran as many times as
possible during this month. Its recitation is traditionally followed
during Taraweeh prayer every night during the whole month.
